Stationary Sets and Determining Sets for Certain Classes of Darbotjx Functions
1. Introduction. Let 6 be a class of real valued functions defined on an interval [a, b]. A set E is called stationary for Q provided any member of C which is constant on E must be constant on all of [a, b]. Several recent articles have been concerned with the problem of determining the stationary sets for various classes of functions [l], [2],
متن کاملStationary countable dense random sets
We study the probability theory of countable dense random subsets of (uncountably infinite) Polish spaces. It is shown that if such a set is stationary with respect to a transitive (locally compact) group of symmetries then any event which concerns the random set itself (rather than accidental details of its construction) must have probability zero or one. Indeed the result requires only quasi-...

متن کاملNonreflecting Stationary Sets in Pκλ
Let κ be a regular uncountable cardinal and λ ≥ κ. The principle of stationary reflection for Pκλ has been successful in settling problems of infinite combinatorics in the case κ = ω1. For a greater κ the principle is known to fail at some λ. This note shows that it fails at every λ if κ is the successor of a regular uncountable cardinal or κ is countably closed.
متن کاملLadder gaps over stationary sets
For a stationary set S ⊆ ω1 and a ladder system C over S, a new type of gaps called C-Hausdorff is introduced and investigated. We describe a forcing model of ZFC in which, for some stationary set S, for every ladder C over S, every gap contains a subgap that is CHausdorff. But for every ladder E over ω1 \ S there exists a gap with no subgap that is E-Hausdorff. A new type of chain condition, c...
